The Walker Art Gallery holds an impressive collection of paintings, sculpture and decorative art from over 600 years displayed in its beautiful Victorian neo-classical building, including works by Rubens, Rembrandt, Poussin and Gainsborough. In addition to these great masters, the gallery's 20th century modern and contemporary collection features pieces by the likes of Lucien Freud, Bridget Riley and Henry Moore, as well as winners of the John Moores Painting Prize (the UK's oldest painting competition) including David Hockney, Peter Doig, Martin Green and Sarah Pickstone. The Dectorative Arts gallery contains over 500 pieces of ceramics, pottery, glass, fashion and furniture from antiquity to contemporary. The Walker Art Gallery also houses a 'Big Art for Little Artists' specially designed gallery for children, a cafe and shop.
